DescriptionA revolution in cattle feedingThe Cattle Caller is a solar powered automated paddock feeder that allows you to preset the delivery of feed supplements, both in weight and the time of day you choose. If feed remains in the trough after a scheduled feed, the next feed delivery will deduct that from the anticipated delivery and so ensure animals only get what they need. This enables you to feed as many times over the day as you like with preset quantities. In operation, the pre-set feed drop simply falls onto a feed table, the cattle are ‘called’, and then feed is eaten or partly eaten. This multiple feeding program with delayed periods between feeds provides for better rumination and avoids the normal feeding practice of the 'Christmas dinner' effect, where animals turn up for one feed session each day, say into troughs, and they gorge and eat everything in front of them, going away with full stomachs. This feeder is a huge leap forward in current practices that will not only save in labour time (which we estimate a day per week if feeding every day) but also save in feed cost as cattle will only eat when they want to and not be compelled to eat at a given time in one session. Comparing this method with a self-feeder which really only restricts feed flow and can prolong the consumption of eating, the Cattle Caller gives you complete control. You know exactly how much is being eaten daily with this device and when the feed hopper will run out. It also provides absolute flexibility to adjust feed as the cattle progress, the seasonal conditions change or the numbers change. This feeder is designed to provide supplementary feed to up to 40 head, so would sit in a paddock with existing pasture where animals would present to the feeder voluntarily.
